We support 85 organisations working to improve access to drinking water and irrigation in water-scarce areas

Our partners support communities in remote, tribal, and other underserved areas, including those living in arid and semi-arid regions, hilly areas, and places affected by poor water quality.

They work with communities to improve the availability, quality, and sustainability of drinking water. This includes reviving defunct water sources, strengthening water distribution systems, and helping village institutions plan and manage local water systems. They also help households access safe drinking water and understand and address water quality issues.

Our partners also work with community-level institutions to manage regular water distribution, mobilise resources for operation and maintenance, and strengthen local ownership of water systems. This includes supporting village-level planning and management so that communities are better able to maintain water sources and systems over time.

Water for agriculture is another important area of work. Our partners help communities augment surface and groundwater sources, conserve soil moisture, and improve the management of irrigation water. These efforts have contributed to an increase in areas under Rabi cultivation, brought more fallow cultivable land under cultivation, expanded irrigated land, and enabled more farmers to adopt more efficient water and crop management practices.

We also support organisations working to improve access to clean drinking water in peri-urban slums, where communities often face challenges related to the availability and quality of water.
